Patience is a Virtue!

I've been keeping a journal, but I figured it's about time to really jump into the 21st century and put a blog on the web. So here it is:

I am currently a first time gestational surrogate that is about to start my second medicated cycle for my wonderful IF's, hopefully we will be able to have a February transfer. I am also a SAHM of two wonderful (very energetic) boys ages 5 and 3. The oldest will be starting Kindergarten in the Fall and then I'll have my year with my youngest before he starts school the following year. But for now they keep me on my toes and usually bouncing from wall to wall. My husband is an Electrician and we have been married for 6 1/2 years. Now we enjoy our small town life and are looking forward to watching our children grow up.

Not lucky with the HPTs yet
Still nothing. I took one test yesterday (a FRED) and a Dollar Tree test and another FRED this morning. So far they have been big fat negatives. But it's still a little early. I'm only 7dpt so I've got time. It can start to take a toll though ... seeing negative after negative. Part of me doesn't want to test again and the other part just wants to keep POAS.

Until tomorrow ..............

Transfer is complete!!
We had our third transfer on Thursday. We had 1 5 cell and 2 6 cell embryos. Unfortunately they thawed 5 out of our 6 frozen embryos and 2 didn't make it, so we're down to 1 lonely embie.

The transfer went very well. Of course they were 45 minutes behind so by the time they called us back my bladder was about to pop. The Doctor was nice but I like the last one better (this one needed better bed side manner.) But as usual it was a very in and out process and then B and I went to lunch at Boston Beer Works (yum!) and then took a tour of Fenway Park (tons of fun and highly recommended.) After that we just relaxed and went home so we could have dinner with R and B's sister B (confusing huh?!) We had a good time just talking and then went to bed after everything was cleaned up.

So now we wait another 10 days until our BETA test on the 19th. I am definitely driving down to Nashville for this test, so I'm calling them Monday to see how long it takes for them to get results back. I hope it's same day 'cuz I don't know if I could go through the same wait that we did last time.

So 10 more days and counting .............

We are ready to go
I had my b/w and u/s this morning and my lining is 10.4mm and I just got the call from the clinic saying that my E2 levels were great. So it looks like we're all ready to go. I will hear from them tomorrow about what time to be there for the transfer and then we'll get to find out what embryos are being transferred. I am so anxious to see how everything turns out. I can't believe it's only been a little over 2 months since I was in Boston -- time sure does fly. And here we are again ... here I come!!

The witch has arrived!!
Well AF showed up on time for once. So I get to start my meds today .... WooHoo!! I have an ultrasound and bloodwork on June 5th and the FET will be June 8th. I am so happy. This is our third time and I have everything crossed and I will be doing every superstition I can think of. I can't wait to be pregnant. Our new nurse is so nice and helpful. It's nice to be able to talk to someone that isn't in a hurry to get you off the phone. And I didn't have to leave her a message and wait forever for her to call me back.

So until the 5th ...........

Finally got our news!!
WooHoo!! After waiting the last 3 weeks for some kind of news the nurse finally called today to go over my meds calendar. Luckily I don't have to take any Lupron this time (byebye headaches) and I only have to be on meds for 16 days (from CD1 to CD16). I do have two new meds to my cycle (Doxicycline and Medrol .... wonder what their side effects are). I'm still doing a lining ultrasound but I need to do bloodwork too to make sure I didn't ovulate. If all goes well our transfer will be around June 8th.

I am curious how old the embryos will be. The older they are the fewer days we have to wait to take the pregnancy test. I feel really good about this one. Especially since we're doing assisted hatching and I'm taking the medrol to help the embies stick. YEAH!!

Only a little more than 3 weeks to go!!

Still no news
Well it's now 2 weeks after the consultation and still no word from the clinic. What can they possibly be doing after all this time. I swear it seems like they're twidling their thumbs and dragging their feet. I mean really .... hope long does it take to look over some stupid file and then make a phone. I really hope after all this waiting that we'll still be able to squeeze in a June transfer. It's already going to be a busy summer it'll be nice to do this first before everything gets hectic.

Wait ...... wait .... wait ...................... and wait some more.

Still no news......
I'm sitting here twiddling my thumbs wondering if I should call the clinic and see what's up. It's been a week since the consultation and still not even a phone call. I'm still a little annoyed that they didn't even call to saw "stop your meds!" Now it just seems that they're wasting precious time. I tried to call B earlier but there wasn't any answer so I think I'll call again in a few minutes to drop a line and see if he's heard anything. How long does it take to go over some damn charts and think of meds for me to take!!! Geesh!

WooHoo!!
B&R got to talk to the RE today. We get to transfer 3 embryos next time and the clinic is going to let the embryos hatch before they are transferred. Hopefully this will give them a better chance of implanting. The RE did say that after looking at all the charts he doesn't have any idea as to why the transfers aren't working. So I guess we'll see. Now we wait for the phone to ring again to find out what the timing will be on meds and stuff. We did hear that I might not have to take the Lupron this time around, so hopefully that'll knock off some time till the transfer. I just hope we don't have to wait for my body to cycle again, but at least that isnt too far off.

So we wait............

Negative =(
We found out over a week ago that the pregnancy test came back negative. It was a little hard to swallow, but I feel better now. I feel so bad having to put B&R through this again and again. Why isn't it working? The next transfer will be a FET, so we'll see how that one goes. I just got an email from B saying that they have an appointment at the clinic on the 1st, so we'll see what the Doc has to say. We're all thinking about transferring 3 this time around but not sure what the clinic thinks of that. At least in a few days we'll know where we stand and when we can get started. At this rate I'm thinking it'll be early/mid June.
